2 OCTOBER 2020 - 14 TISHREI 5781 Dear Community Member The BD Kosher South Africa is proud and excited to share the news that we are actively assisting Emirates Flight Catering – one of the world’s largest catering operations serving more than 100 airlines – to set up the United Arab Emirates’ first kosher food production facility. As you will see here in the announcement out of Dubai, Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC), has entered a partnership with CCL Holdings – founded by our very own South African Ross Kriel – to set up a dedicated production facility for kosher food at EKFC’s premises in the UAE. The new partnership will be called Kosher Arabia, and production is expected to begin by January 2021. Kosher Arabia is certified by the Kashrut Division of the Orthodox Union (OU), and will work in partnership with BD Kosher under the Union of Orthodox Synagogues (UOS), to provide the highest level of excellence in kosher certification to Kosher Arabia. We are honoured to be playing such an important role in this historic and pioneering partnership. When we announced a new era for BD Kosher in 2018, we said our ambition was to provide the highest level of Kosher supervision on par with other international Kosher authorities. To now be overseeing Kosher supervision for one of the world’s largest catering operations, that prepared more than 80 million meals last year for over 100 different airlines, hospitality groups and government enterprises, is a huge vote of confidence in the BD Kosher, and a testament to the exceptional hard work and commitment of our dedicated team.
